8.1. Continuous Improvement Routine
One minute on the routine that sustains everything above. Details begin below.
On Monday: 20 minutes right from your phone
- Hours and holidays for the next seven days (5 minutes). Google Business Profile, Edit profile, Hours. Maps filters by “Open now,” and outdated hours take you off the map at three in the afternoon, while also filling your profile with reviews from people who arrived to a closed shutter.
- New reviews, all answered (8 minutes). Within 24 hours and naming the dish: “Thanks for mentioning the sourdough margarita, Ana.” Boilerplate replies are obvious and don't count. The standard lies in 3.2 Positive reviews.
- Three intent metrics (5 minutes). Profile performance: calls, direction requests, and menu clicks versus the previous week. Jot them down; what to do with them is covered in 6.2 Adjustments based on data.
- A Saturday photo (2 minutes). From the oven or the full table, never from a stock photo library.
Schedule the four points as a recurring event every Monday at 9. New review alerts and photo reminders can be left to trigger on their own with marketing automation; what nobody can automate is writing the reply.
On the 6th of each month: one hour
On the 6th, not the 1st: the Searches metric updates at the beginning of the month and takes up to 5 days to appear.
- Export Performance to a spreadsheet (10 minutes). Retains data for 6 months, just like linking GA4 to your profile: whatever you don't export in month one won't exist in month seven.
- Search Console, 28 days versus the previous 28 (20 minutes). By Pages and by Queries, comparing clicks, not impressions: the bug Google acknowledged on April 3, 2026, inflated impressions starting May 13, 2025, and CTR along with them.
- Menu and pricing (15 minutes). Google Business Profile, Edit menu: dishes with description and price, by section. Update the website menu on the very same day; an outdated price gets disputed at the register.
- Key events in GA4 (15 minutes). Admin, Data display, Events. Confirm that they are still tracking the four that matter: click to WhatsApp, to phone, to directions, and to menu; a template change breaks them without warning.
Every quarter: two hours of auditing
- NAP consistency (45 minutes). Search Google, in quotation marks and separately, for your trade name and your phone number. Review them one by one: Google Business Profile, Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Connect, renamed on April 14, 2026), Foursquare, Yelp, Tripadvisor, Sección Amarilla, and the Waze map. Cross-check against rnt-consulta.sectur.gob.mx, siem.economia.gob.mx, and the DENUE. The text string must be identical: “Av.” or “Avenida”, never both.
- Duplicates and third-party edits (15 minutes). A duplicate of the same location is prohibited by Google and splits your reviews in half. Keep an eye on edits suggested by other users as well.
- Primary category and attributes (15 minutes). The primary category is the field that moves the needle most in the local pack and takes five minutes to verify: “Pizza restaurant,” not “Restaurant.” Check the filterable attributes: outdoor seating, takeout, delivery, gluten-free, parking.
- Stalled pages (45 minutes). Those that haven't moved in six months: rewrite them with a different angle or merge them, using the discard rule from lesson 6.2.
Once a year
Article 30 of the Business Chambers Law requires you to update your SIEM registration every year; if you are affiliated with CANIRAC, ask them to handle it for you. The National Tourism Registry certificate, free and mandatory for food and beverage establishments, is valid for 2 years and must be renewed 30 days before expiration. Put both on your calendar, not in your memory.
What you achieved and why this isn't over
Once the eight steps are complete, you have data-backed keyword targets, a clean website, an active review profile, consistent citations, legitimate local links, and a dashboard telling you what to adjust next. But this work degrades naturally: prices change, holiday hours shift, and algorithms evolve. In 2026, Google rolled out core updates on March 27 and May 21, along with spam updates in March and June.
It runs at two speeds: the profile drives calls and directions in weeks, because its factors are edited the same day; organic ranking is measured in quarters. Regarding timelines, Google states it in its documentation: no one can guarantee the top spot.
It comes out to about 37 hours a year: 52 Mondays of 20 minutes, 12 monthly closes of one hour, and 4 two-hour audits. If they pull you away from the kitchen, delegate them: that's what we cover in SEO rankings and what falls under the monthly service of 2,500 pesos.
